A cross-sector collaborative comprised of the City of San Francisco, Enterprise Community Partners, and The San Francisco Foundation came together to launch the Partnership for HOPESF, an ambitious multimillion dollar initiative to redevelop multiple distressed public housing developments in San Francisco into socially and economically vibrant mixed-income communities.
csb philanthropic solutions was first brought in to conduct a fundraising feasibility and campaign planning study. We developed the campaign case statement, helped secure stakeholder buy-in, developed an innovative fundraising structure, and identified strong prospects for philanthropic investment. When these efforts showed that the project was feasible, csb philanthropic solutions was asked to help design the organizational structure for the collaborative initiative.
We identified prospects for the cross-sector leadership table, developed recommendations for the governance structure and backbone organization, and established the framework for hiring an external evaluator. After implementing our recommendations, HOPESF succeeded in engaging committed leadership from diverse community stakeholders and securing more than $15 million in philanthropic funding toward achieving its large-scale collective impact goals.
